What I Love About Sailing
by S. Lohmann
I find sailing really fun because I like being on the water. I like the feeling of going over waves and how the boat rocks. I like whooshing along. When I sail, I feel so happy. I like the wind on my face and the sound of the splashing waves. Fanshawe Lake feels like an ocean sometimes because it’s big. I also like algae and seagrass. They are like smelly friends.
I like skippering and also being a crew member. When I’m skippering, I always have to remember “tiller toward trouble” that way I don’t crash into land or buoys (also boys like my brother). When I’m a crew member, I especially like hanging out the side of the boat and pulling the jib sheet.
I can’t wait to sail some more.
