2026 FYC Fall Work Party

On a very chilly yet sunny Saturday this past weekend, FYC members worked together to close our club down for the winter. It’s always a sad time when this happens but with brisk winds and a thermometer reading 9C, we know that winter is coming.
Most, if not all of the jobs on Vice-Commodore Emily’s list were accomplished that day with the Mooring balls all being pulled out before Lunch! Unreal! Nice work Jim, John V and Franz!
Thanks to the other volunteers who came out to help. The club wouldn’t run without you so thanks very much!!
**Club access is limited this week to pick up your boat, etc. So, if you need to get into FYC, please let Commodore Stacey know.

"Sailing For All" - A New Program to get everyone out Saiing!
The main goal of this new program sponsored by Sail Canada, is to get folks out sailing despite challenges such as low/no vision or having some use of their hands/arms but also needing the use of a wheelchair.
Two Sessions were held this summer and several of the participants said that this experience was one of the best forms of recreation/sport they’d had in a long time! One of the sailors, Brian Arthur, even recently competed for Canada in the World Sailing Inclusion Games in Portugal!

2026 FYC Club Championships & Corn Roast
The 2026 FYC Club Championships were held on Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30.
A Corn Roast Dinner was also held on Saturday.
Many thanks to all of the volunteers who helped out at this regatta.

FYC Hosted the 2026 Y-Flyer Internationals August 6-9!

Fanshawe Yacht Club welcomed 14 Y-Flyer crews from across North America to the 2026 Y-Flyer Internationals earlier in August.
Congratulations to Kevin and Wanda Black from Indianapolis Sailing Club who took First Place in the Gold Fleet, and Lawrence and Andy Lynch from FYC who captured First Place in the Challenger Fleet.

Our first Open Regatta of the 2026 Season is in the books! The June Bug Regatta was Saturday, June 27 & Sunday, June 28* (these were the revised dates) and was open to all eligible racers.
