How the Leasing Programs Works
When the sailing school is not using the CL-14 and Quest boats, they are available for leasing to club members or current year adult sailing school graduates. All users must read and follow the “Sailing School Boat Use Rules”.
Adult FYC Sailing School Graduates
Upon being certified at CANSail Level 2, each adult student may use the school boats that they received instruction in, for the remainder of the sailing season to practice and enhance their newly learned skills. This arrangement involves a small fee of $25 for use of boats, an FYC gate key deposit of $20, plus park entry fees. Subject to the availability of the boats during school sessions, boats can be signed out any time during daylight hours. Adults enrolled in the Introduction to Racing program, may use school Lasers for club racing provided they have their CANSail Level 2. Complete the “Adult Grad Student Boat Use Program” form below and email the Leasing Coordinator at [email protected] to submit the form, pay the key deposit, and gain access to the sign out calendar.
In the membership portal, club members may pay the leasing fee of $265 for the season. This allows members to use the sailing school CL-14 and Quest boats by signing them out when the boats are not needed for the sailing school. Sailing proficiency at CANSail Level 2 must be proven through certification, references, or demonstration. Email the Leasing Coordinator at [email protected] to provide proof of sailing proficiency and gain access to the sign out calendar.
Signing out boats
To help lessees know when the boats are available, a sign out calendar has been developed. Email the Leasing Coordinator at [email protected] to gain access to the sign out calendar. Before using a boat, lessees must sign it out on the online calendar. If you change your mind and decide not to use your booking, please cancel it so that others will know the boat is available. Also sign in and out on the marker board in the sailing school building so that we know who is on the water in case of emergency.
*Please note on the marker board and advise the Leasing Coordinator immediately if a boat needs repairs or if parts are lost. We need to be able to fix them quickly for sailing school use. Rigging and derigging checklists will be provided. Please ensure everything is securely stored as outlined in the checklist.
