Les was a beloved former member of FYC. He was Commodore in 1999, and was instrumental in the many projects completed at FYC such as the Sailing School Building along with Hans Schaffner, Len MacDougall and their team. He loved racing and cruising on sailboats. Some of us were fortunate enough to have enjoyed his companionship when he joined our Georgian Bay cruises with Lise or his son Brian on his American 21. He and Lise also hosted the FYC cruisers a couple of times at their lovely historic home near London. He was a very funny guy with a great sense of humour who lived his life to the fullest. Les will be fondly remembered at FYC.
Notice from Lise Pomeroy about Les’s Passing on Facebook, November 10:
Les died today at home, surrounded by friends and family. It was a good day. Best dinner in his honour cooked by his sons, friends, daughters iLs, and enjoyed by the rest of us in the tradition we have delighted in for so many years. I am so fortunate to have been able to have had those who also loved Les be with me on this sad and happy day. Rest in peace Les, you so deserve it. ❤️
Below is his Obituary:
October 30, 1951 – November 10, 2025
Leslie David Pomeroy, aged 74, of Kincardine, Ontario passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Montreal on October 30, 1951, to James and Vera Pomeroy, Les earned a Bachelor of Architecture from McGill University in 1975. He maintained his own practice in Montreal until 1990, then moved to London, ON to join Dillon Consulting, where he remained until his retirement in 2015.
He met Lise in 1977, and they were married the same year, beginning an enduring love story.
Les filled his free time sharing his passion for cooking, traveling, renovating, and sailing, and often all of the above in combination. He was a valued friend to fellow sailors at the Fanshawe Yacht Club in London and later the Kincardine Yacht Club. From racing on Fanshawe or Lake Huron to cruising the North Channel, the Caribbean, the Adriatic, and the Aegean Seas, sailing brought him an incredible peace. His sons – the pride of his life – are carrying on the tradition with their own families.
In recent years, Les and Lise rediscovered their youthful love of camping and enjoyed exploring, together with their dogs, the lakes and trails of Ontario’s Provincial Parks in their cozy travel trailer.
Les’s skilled hand can still be seen in renovations of every home family lived in through the years. Some of the projects spanned years but his craftsmanship and vision always came through.
The memory of Les’s unwavering kindness, his selfless spirit and his dry wit lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and those who were honoured to have known him.
Les is deeply missed by his wife of 48 wonderful years, Lise (nee Bernier), sons Brian (Nora), and William (Sidsel); grandchildren Samson Pomeroy and Gudrun Nag, his brothers Keith (Linda) and Richard. He is also survived by his beloved pets Ellie, Phoebe, and Chai.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Sandhu and his staff at Brightshores Cancer Treatment Centre in Owen Sound, and to the staff at Ontario Health at Home, and Closing the Gap who together made it possible for Les to remain at home, in keeping with his wishes.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Les’s name to the to the Brightshores Health System Owen Sound Foundation, c/o Cancer Treatment Centre in Owen Sound, ON.
A celebration of Les’s life will take place at a later date in Kincardine, ON. Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services, greybrucecremation.com.

Michael Russell Morris (Mike) Obituary
Michael (Mike) Russell Morris, born in London, Ontario, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the age of 87.
Beloved husband of 64 years to Margo, devoted father of Morgan van Holst (Michael) and Jordan Morris (Kaila Jarmain), and proud Grumpy of favourite youngest granddaughter Nadine Hodgert (Chris Rahim), favourite eldest granddaughter Stephanie (Aaron Bernardi), and mostest favourite great-granddaughter Brooklyn Keddy. Mike is survived by his brother Timothy Morris.
Mike began his career in 1961 with International Harvester, where his sharp instincts and genuine nature quickly earned him respect. He rose to the role of District Sales Manager before continuing his long and storied career with London Freightliner, Highbury Ford, and later London Honda. Renowned for his honesty, fairness, and strength of character, Mike built enduring friendships and a reputation for integrity that defined both his work and his life.
A true enthusiast of both land and water, Mike’s passion for cars and boats shaped much of his life’s story. Over the years, he owned 13 boats and 38 vintage and collector cars, curating a fascinating collection of unusual and remarkable automobiles. He was a long-standing member and past Commodore of the Fanshawe Yacht Club, where he was affectionately known as “Sailor Mike.” He also served as past president of the Studebaker Drivers’ Club of Canada.
Among his many vehicles, his butter-yellow 1950 Studebaker Champion Starlight Coupe — a true labour of love — was his signature car, earning him numerous trophies and the admiration of fellow collectors.
Mike was the kind of person who could be counted on for anything. Whether something needed fixing, building, or inventing, he was the one who could figure it out — quietly, capably, and without complaint. He helped friends and neighbours without hesitation and approached every challenge with calm determination.
Beyond his love of craftsmanship and design, Mike was a great storyteller who loved a good laugh and good company. He cherished his friends and family deeply. He and Margo shared many happy years together, including the time they spent building and enjoying their summer home in Prince Edward Island — a project that reflected his creativity, care, and love of family.
He will be remembered for his steadfastness, humour, and the quiet dignity with which he lived. His legacy lives on not only in his family but in the many lives he touched through his kindness, friendship, and example.
For the last 38 years, Mike has donated to the Salvation Army and in lieu of flowers donations to them would be appreciated.
