RS Sailing on Lake Fanshawe in some good breeze by J. Santos. “Had some good wind at Lake Fanshawe: 15kts with 27kt gusts at the airport (and likely a bit more at lake level). Rather than go out in Lasers and all end up swimming, three of us went out in an RS Quest, reefed the sail, and played in the waves.” Kate, John and Andrew take a Sailing School RS for a rip on our little reservoir on a sporty day. Jim on Raise a Little Hull (green trimaran) kept it manageable with mainsail only! 2024
New Laser/ILCA Sailor Versus 13kts (with multiple capsizes) by J. Santos. “Some sailing footage from a fun Sunday afternoon of racing at Fanshawe Yacht Club, London, Ontario, Canada. I had been sailing for about 3 months at this point and didn’t have much experience in a proper breeze. The nearby weather station at the airport was showing 13kts out of the west with 19kt gusts, so it was time to send it (like an oversized package with insufficient postage). Good thing I wore my wetsuit because it was only 17C, and I hadn’t done this much swimming since I had (short-lived) triathlon ambitions.” 2023
Laser/ILCA sailing in light winds at the 2023 FYC Pumpkin Regatta by J. Santos “A high pressure ridge meant lights winds, and we were only able to complete one race for the entire weekend. But, at least we all got to work on our tans once last time. Fanshawe Yacht Club (London, ON) holds its Pumpkin Regatta annually on the first weekend of October. It usually brings in sailors from other clubs in the region whose lakes have dropped water levels in anticipation of winter.” 2023

Something I forgot to do the other day after drilling out some rivets. I found the center of the rivet is steel! I found this by the tiny rust marks that were left in the cockpit after drilling! There gone now. It’s nice to finally have a boat in the water here to play with. I’m looking forward to Wednesday races.” 2014
