How do I become a member?<\/span><\/strong><\/p><ul><li>You can complete the membership application progress by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fyc.on.ca\/register\/members\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Registering Online<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong><span class=\"question collapse-item-anchor\" data-item=\"collapse-item-2\">2. What types of boats are allowed at the Club?<\/span><\/strong><\/p><ul><li>For sailboats, any boat with a length under 26 feet is allowed.<\/li><li>FYC has recently expanded (by special request) to allow certain dragon boat, canoe, and kayak teams to join. Please <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fyc.on.ca\/contact\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Contact FYC<\/a><\/strong> if you are unsure if your craft qualifies.<\/li><li>Powerboats in any shape and size are NOT permitted at FYC (this does not include the outboard motors used on members&#8217; sailboats or the FYC &amp; SS safety boats).<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong><span class=\"question collapse-item-anchor\" data-item=\"collapse-item-3\">3. Do FYC members have to pay to enter the Park \/ Conservation Area?<\/span><\/strong><\/p><p><b>Yes.<\/b>\u00a0The Fanshawe Yacht Club is\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fyc.on.ca\/fanshawe-lake-location\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">located<\/a><\/strong> within the Fanshawe Conservation Area<\/p><ul><li>Access to the Park is controlled by the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fyc.on.ca\/?r=www.thamesriver.on.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Upper Thames River Conservation Authority<\/a><\/strong> (UTRCA). Most FYC members purchase a season Vehicle Pass rather than paying at the gate each visit as this is a more economical approach.<\/li><li>In addition, the UTRCA requires that each boat used on the Lake must have a valid Boat Pass (also purchased through the UTRCA).<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong><span class=\"question collapse-item-anchor\" data-item=\"collapse-item-4\">4. Does the Club lend, lease, or rent boats out?<\/span><\/strong><\/p><p><b>Yes.<\/b> FYC has a Leasing Program for <em><strong>Gr<\/strong><strong>aduates of the Sailing School<\/strong><\/em> (or any <em><strong>qualified club member<\/strong><\/em>) to use the School&#8217;s boats when they are not in use or already signed out.<\/p><ul><li>If you are interested in this program, please contact the Leasing Coordinator in the drop down menu of our <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fyc.on.ca\/contact\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Contact FYC<\/a><\/strong> \u00a0form.<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong><span class=\"question collapse-item-anchor\" data-item=\"collapse-item-5\">5. What docking \/ storage options are available at the club?<\/span><\/strong><\/p><p>FYC has several options available for your boat when not in use:<\/p><ul><li>on-the-water moorings (boats on moorings should have bottom paint to prevent growth)<\/li><li>shoreline docks<\/li><li>small boats racks(canoes, kayaks, prams, etc<\/li><li>trailer parking (including boats on dollies).\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><div>\u00a0<\/div><div><strong><span class=\"question collapse-item-anchor\" data-item=\"collapse-item-6\">6. Can non-club members participate in FYC events?<\/span><\/strong><\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div><b>Yes,<\/b> everyone is welcome to take part in the Club&#8217;s Open events. These include:<\/div><ul><li>our annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fyc.on.ca\/events\/open-house\/\"><strong>Open House<\/strong><\/a> for visitors to tour our club in May<\/li><li>for racers we have the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/fyc.on.ca\/wp-v1\/calendar\/june-bug-regatta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">June Bug Regatta<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in June, and the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/fyc.on.ca\/wp-v1\/calendar\/pumpkin-regatta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pumpkin Regatta<\/a><\/strong> in late September or early October.<\/li><li>All other events are for FYC members only.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><p>*However, members of FYC are welcome to bring guests to any event (Please note: if you want to bring a non-club member to compete in a closed club regatta you must first check the rules for the regatta or ask permission from the Race Committee Chair).<\/p><div>\u00a0<\/div><div><strong><span class=\"question collapse-item-anchor\" data-item=\"collapse-item-7\">7. Why should I join FYC? Do I need to be a Fanshawe College student to be a member?<\/span><\/strong><\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><p><b>No.<\/b>\u00a0Fanshawe Yacht Club is not affiliated with Fanshawe College.<\/p><ul><li>FYC is so named as it resides on London&#8217;s Fanshawe Lake.
