Sail Canada\u00a0<\/b>Safe Sport Program<\/b><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>

SAFE SPORT<\/span><\/b> –\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Creating a Safe and Inclusive sport environment<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Fanshawe Yacht Club believes everyone involved in any role in the sport of sailing has the right to participate in a safe and inclusive sailing environment free of abuse, harassment, or discrimination \u2013 collectively referred to as maltreatment. This right to fully enjoy the sport applies to everyone regardless of the level or type of sailing they participate in.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

As such Fanshawe Yacht Club, <\/span>in partnership with Ontario Sailing, <\/span>is committed to active evolution of their Safe Sport policies and practices to respond to the changing nature of Safe Sport in Canada. Our sport is continually working to support a focus on education, prevention, and response.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Have Concerns?<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Reporting is critical in creating and maintaining a safe environment for sailing participants. Independent third-party complaints management is a directive of Canada\u2019s Safe Sport Movement, driven Sport Canada.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Sail Canada and the Provincial Sailing Associations have appointed an Independent Third Party who any participant can contact to discuss incidents of maltreatment or misconduct of any kind.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Individuals who are experiencing, or are aware of, any forms of maltreatment or misconduct, including a breach of the Sail Canada Code of Conduct or any policy, should contact the Independent Third Party designated to support sailing in Canada:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

ITP Sport is available by using the online form or the toll-free 24\/7\/365: https:\/\/app.integritycounts.ca\/org\/itpsport<\/a> or by dialing 1-866-921-6714\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Situations involving an individual directly linked to Sail Canada (Staff, Board, Committee Members, Athletes, Support People, and any registered Regional, or higher, level Officials)<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Individuals above have been asked to agree to be CSSP Participants and are subject to the process created by Sport Canada and the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) should there be an allegation of breaches of the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS) for these individuals.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

If the situation involves someone in any capacity who may fall under the umbrella of this system, the complaint should go directly to the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
